Adventures
Our first exciting adventure began on our way to Taos, New Mexico. We stumbled upon the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, which was horrifying to say the least.
When we did make it into Taos, which I thought was a pretty cute town, we finally got to see the Earthships! For those who aren't up to date with the newest hippy lifestyles, check out earthship.com. If you still don't understand what exactly they are because the website is poorly written, check them out on wikipedia.
For those who aren't interested enough to click the link, these are off the grid, sustainable homes.
Not like this is going to come as a surprise to those reading this, but I want one.
Driving into Colorado was pretty interesting. Almost exactly at the border it stops looking like New Mexico and starts looking like Colorado. There are lots of pines, and snow. We'll have pictures tomorrow.
Sleeping Arrangements
Up until now I've been pretty hesitant to discuss just how corporate some aspects of our trip have become. We have gotten into the habit of sleeping in Walmart parking lots. I know, it's awful. We really got sick of spending so much time searching for a place to park on the street, and Walmart allows people to camp overnight at most of their locations. We try not to buy things from them, though. There's always a Starbucks not too far from the Walmart, and they have free internet. To top it off, if we can't find a Starbucks, next in line for free internet is McDonald's. Gag me. We try not buy things, but coffee is hard to resist.
